250minimumLabels for bottles, tubs, droppers and pouches
Each container is hard on a label in its own way, so the right size and material depend on what you fill.
Capsule and tablet bottles
Most labels wrap around the body of the bottle. Leave a few millimetres clear below the shoulder and above the base so the label sits on the straight part.
Gloss or matte BOPP
Powder tubs
Tubs get opened with damp hands and kept in humid kitchens. Waterproof film keeps the print readable to the last scoop.
Gloss or matte BOPP
Dropper bottles
Small bottles curve tightly, and tinctures and oils run down the glass, so an oil-resistant film is the safer choice.
Gloss or matte BOPP
Stand-up pouches
Pouches give you a flat face, so any shape works. Keep the label clear of the gussets and seams.

What a Canadian NHP label has to fit
Natural health product labels carry a lot of required text in two languages. Plan the layout before you choose a label size, because most required text has to be at least 6 points.
Front panel
- Brand name
- Product number, e.g. NPN 12345678
- Dosage form
- Net amount
Product Facts / Info-produit
- Medicinal ingredients
- Uses
- Warnings, with allergens in bold
- Directions
- Other information
- Non-medicinal ingredients
- Questions? Phone, email or website
Also on the label
- Licence holder's name
- Route of administration
- Lot number
- Expiry date, at least year and month
English and French
Uses, directions, warnings, ingredient names and storage conditions appear in both languages.
Type size
Required text is at least 6 points (5.5 condensed). Non-medicinal ingredients can be 5.5 points (5 condensed).
Contrast
Required text is one colour that reads like black on white, or sits on a neutral background tinted no more than 5%.
Small labels
Labels with 90 cm² or less of usable surface are exempt from the Product Facts table and the type rules.
Dates
The updated rules took effect on June 21, 2025, and all NHPs have until June 22, 2028 to comply.
Our guide covers the basics. It isn't legal advice, and the content of your label is your responsibility.
Printing notes for supplement brands
Keep required text on white
We print in full colour on white BOPP film, and unprinted areas stay white. Set the Product Facts table and other required text on a white or very light area so it meets the contrast rule.
Lot numbers and expiry dates
Every label in a run prints the same. Leave a clear space and add the lot number and expiry date with a coder or a stamp when you fill the bottles.
One design per product
The 250-label minimum applies to each design, so every flavour, strength or bottle size is its own run.
Rolls for applicators
Labels come wound on a 3-inch core for a label applicator, and they peel easily by hand for short runs.

Questions
Which label material is best for supplement bottles?
White BOPP with a gloss or matte laminate. It is waterproof and oil resistant, so it copes with condensation, oily hands and humid bathrooms. Paper suits dry goods that stay dry.
Do you check supplement labels for Health Canada compliance?
We check every file for resolution, bleed and safe margins, and send you a digital proof. What the label says is up to you and your product licence, so compare the wording with your licence and Health Canada's guidance before you approve.
How small can the text be on an NHP label?
Most required text has to be at least 6 points, or 5.5 points in a condensed font. Non-medicinal ingredients can be 5.5 points, or 5 points condensed. Labels with 90 cm² or less of usable surface are exempt from the size rules.
When do the Product Facts table rules apply?
They took effect on June 21, 2025. Products licensed before that date have a three-year transition, and Health Canada says all NHPs have until June 22, 2028 to comply.
Can the Product Facts table be printed in colour?
Required text has to be a single colour that reads like solid black on white, or sit on a neutral background with no more than a 5% tint. Your brand colours work well on the front panel and around the table.
Can you print a different lot number on each label?
Every label in a print run is identical. Most brands leave a blank space on the label and add the lot number and expiry date with a coder or a stamp when they fill the bottles.
What is the minimum order for supplement labels?
250 labels per design, with setup included. Each product, flavour or bottle size counts as its own design.
