Production times are estimates. They start once you approve the proof and the order is paid, and shipping time is extra. Premium cards can also have painted edges.

Black
Uncoated black card, 28 or 40 pt, printed with letterpress or foil in one of ten foil colours. There is no full-colour printing on black card.

What to send us
A file set up this way prints sharp and trims cleanly. If yours isn't ready, send it anyway: we check every file and set it up for print at no charge.
Size and bleed
Cards are 3.5 × 2 in. Set your file up at 3.75 × 2.25 in so it carries 0.125 in of bleed on every side.
Safe margin
Keep text and logos at least 0.125 in inside the trim line.
Colour
Convert everything to CMYK, because RGB colours shift and print duller. For a deep black background use C60 M40 Y40 K100.
File types
Send PDF, AI, EPS, PSD or a 300 dpi JPG, with fonts converted to outlines.
Special finishes
Foil, spot UV, embossing, letterpress and raised ink need a second file called a mask. It marks the finish in 100% black on white and has to be vector art.
Borders
Cutting can shift by up to 1 mm, so a thin border can look uneven. If you want one, make it at least 0.18 in thick.

Printing on both sides
Set the front and back in the same orientation, because both sides print head to head. If one side is portrait and the other landscape, rotate one of them 90 degrees.

What size are your business cards?
The standard size is 3.5 × 2 inches. Set your file up at 3.75 × 2.25 inches so it includes 0.125 inches of bleed on every side.
How long do business cards take?
It depends on the finish. Matte cards take about 2 to 3 business days, laminated cards 3 to 4, spot UV 5 to 7, and foil, cotton, kraft, black, embossed and raised ink cards 7 to 14. The time starts once you approve the proof and the order is paid, and shipping is extra.
Which foil colours can I choose?
Foil cards come in gold or silver. Black cards have ten foil colours, including rose gold, copper, ruby red and royal blue. Foil lines need to be at least 0.5 pt thick, and very large solid foil areas can peel or bubble.
Can I print in full colour on black cards?
No. Black cards are printed with letterpress or foil. For a full-colour card with a dark look, choose a laminated card and use a rich black background of C60 M40 Y40 K100.
Do you check my business card file?
Yes. We check every file and email you a digital proof. Nothing is printed until you approve it.
Will my brand colour match exactly?
We print in CMYK, and colour can shift a little between your screen and the printed card, so an exact match can't be promised. Setting your file up in CMYK gets you closest.
